If it is a big mess in your sewing room you probably don’t feel very comfortable working there. Constantly searching for things and never finding what you need must be really frustrating. Instead of continuing like this with months, better take a break and put everything in order. It will not take you a lot of time and it will make your work much easier.

Here are some tips that can help you eliminate the mess in your sewing room fast and efficient

1. Get rid of everything you don’t need

Throw away absolutely everything that you are not using. Inspect every area of your sewing room and declutter it completely. Be honest and don’t keep anything that is not serving any purpose to you. Even if it is a special present or something that you just don’t want to throw away. Remember that you would like to have some free place and make your working place cosy. By decluttering your atelier, you are not only cleaning but also creating space for the tools that you actually use. Once you have removed all the unnecessary things from the cabinets and shelves, put everything back on its rightful place. Next time when you need something you will know where to find it.

2. Clean

If you haven’t done it recently make an overall cleaning, vacuum the floor and wipe the dust from all surfaces in your sewing room, beat the dust out of the rug, clean the windows and remove the cobwebs, wipe the door from both sides. Clean also your sewing machine. Take a painting brush and remove the lint from the bobbin case. After that take care of the ironing board, remove its cover and wash it in the washing machine. Inspect your tools and wash them if they are dirty.

3. Organise your tools

No more wondering where did you leave your scissors. Put all the tools you are constantly using on one place and group them in a comfortable for you manner. A wall pocket organiser is a very convenient solution for the bigger instruments in your studio. It’s a great idea if you want to keep all your tools and spools near you. Pin cushion and zipper pouch would also serve you a good purpose, there you can place smaller things. In order to keep everything well organised, when you use something put it directly back on its place.

4. Patterns

If you prefer having a lot of patterns in your studio you will need to keep them organised in order to find them fast when you work. Take some time and check what patterns you already have. Once you are ready, Sparklinglondon cleaners Fulham advises you to stick a description note on each pattern. This is how you will always know exactly what you have and where to find it.

5. Magazines and journals

Choose one place in your sewing room and put there all the magazines, journals, and albums that you have. You may store them on a shelf or in a special box but make sure that they have their own place and are not scattered everywhere around you.

Now that you have cleaned and reorganised your sewing room, you can feel the pleasure of working in a neat and cosy environment again. Use these tips once per month and you will keep your working place clean and well organised. Neat and tidy working place will help you be more creative and your clients will feel very comfortable when they visit you.
